VITRA ALICE’S WONDERLAND
One of my dreams, the kind that seems impossible to happen, is being able to visit a design shop with my two boys. Just that. Being able to enjoy my time, touch everything and let my imagination fly while I am thinking where everything could fit at my place. AND-NOT-HAVE-TO-WORRY-ABOUT-THEM!
Maybe, and only maybe, my dreams can come true at VITRAHAUS, the flagship store of the famous Swedish design company. Since March 2016 and thanks to the famous designer India Mahdavi, VITRA has become VITRA Alice’s Wonderland.
Using soft, but fresh colors and plenty of pink, the Paris-based designer has transformed the incredible loft into a world where Alice, the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter and March the Hare could be easily having the best Mad Tea Party ever.
I can perfectly picture Alice drinking her shrinking potion while sitting down in the Mariposa Sofa, by Edward Barber and Jau Osgerby. I can even picture myself there!
India Mahdavi has built an enchanting world where everybody can feel as part of the story. Oversized decorative elements like teapots where you can step in or huge edelweiss flowers will make everyone feel so little as Alice before entering into the marvellous Wonderland.
And stepping out onto the balcony, it will be like eating a piece of cake with the EAT ME sign on it. Miniature furniture, together with the fantastic views, will make the visitor feel like a giant, everything shrinking around.
I don’t know you, but after discovering this, I am already planning a visit to Switzerland, a real VITRA Alice’s Wonderland.
