CIFF KIDS – The coolest trends for next Winter

CIFF KIDS is the Scandinavian window for children trends and quality brands. Not so big in size as other children fairs, CIFF KIDS is “big” in the quality of the brands selected for exhibition. Over 300 brands, all of them conscious with the world our children have to live. Brands focused in working with natural materials, centering their production in the places where they are from and supporting the workers and the environment .

Global brands and small emergent companies lived together during 3 days in the center of Copenhagen presenting the trends for the Autumn Winter 2017/2018.

Next cold season will come full of Autumnal colors: all shades of brown, blues, greens and burgundy, together with the omnipresent black/white/grey combo. Military and animal prints are still a trend, although this new season will bring them a hint of color and imagination.

The hit of this fair were the collections focused in “tweens“, a new word for describing children in ages between 8 and 14 years old. Fashion, internet and social media go hand by hand and children of these ages want to dress as teenagers, although we, parents, could think that it is still to early for that. Brands like Little remix, Frankie & Liberty, Atracktion for Alba, Soft Gallery, Petit by Sofie Schnoor, Grunt or Les Coyotes de Paris offer them (and us) trendy collections tailored to their age.

For Babies we love the new Portuguese brand: Bamboo & Love, stylist baby clothes made 100% from bamboo. Lots of style in soft colors. My favorite garment, their beautiful tiny turban in yellow mustard or terracotta. Bonét et Bonét is another new brand focused in lifestyle baby products, like blankets, mobiles or baby decoration. We fell in love with their cashmere pink blanket and the christening dresses made in India. Delicate and beautiful!

We met in person the adorable baby shoes and accessories of Donsje Amsterdam, and in real life they are as perfect as we expected. The animal collection coming for the next cold season made me want another baby. Don’t you think that those foxie accessories are not just gorgeous?

Toddlers and kids will be happy dressed in Emile et ida clothes, with their cute animal socks and shoes. Iglo+Indi is other brand to be remembered. Their sweater “rock your imperfections” will come also in grown-up size and I definitely want one.

We want to congratulate Little Spendabel, Long Live the Queen  and Motoreta for their different prints and colors. Little Spendabel introduces soft colors in the middle of the Winter, Long Live the Queen brings acid colors and hints of lurex and Motoreta adds to the mix of dots and geometric prints, hints of ruffles and tulles that give another level to their playful clothes.

In the section of WARM CLOTHES, lots of merino wool, alpaca an natural materials. Sweaters, cardigans and dresses with so soft touch that your children will always want to wear them. Winter colors (black, grey’s and all shades of brown) combined with geometric shapes. Our favorites:

As we grow, an Icelandic brand that we discovered last CIFF’s SS17. They produce garments that can be inherited generation after generation, clothes that become part of the family history.

Rock the Goatstylist cardigans and dresses made from cashmere and merino wool. Our favorite, their coats made of faux furs.

3 reknown brands are always among my favorites:  Bobo Chose‘s A/W collection is inspired by the sea and its conservation: “Plastic is Over”. I love their prints and the quality of their clothes, but this time my preferences go with their accessories: little girly bags and caps. Tiny Cottons new collection is inspired by the Altiplano in Peru. They always surprised me with the playfulness of their prints, but their shoes are something to look forward.  Mini Rodini is one of my favorite brands for winter overalls and coats. They offer a wide range of colors and funny prints to bring happiness to the long and dark Winter months. Next cold season will be full of roses and animals: dogs, penguins, butterflies, doves, foxes, bunnies and even bats will be part of our children games.

We cannot share pictures of their collections yet, but there will be for sure in Cute and Kids as soon as their collections will be launched.

Before showing you our three top brands for AW 17/18, we would love to mention 3 brands with marvelous accessories for our kids:  SWAYS, is a rainwear brand for kids. Rain jackets and trousers in every imaginable color and a collection of backpacks that will be the delight of any kids living in a rainy country. If I have to pick a favorite I will stay with the silver or the transparent one with paper boat prints.

HUMMEL is the proof of how a sport brand can reinvent itself into a fashion brand. Their floral prints in pants and sweatshirts bring the garments to a different level. I am also a huge fan of their sneaker collection. Next season comes full of golden and silver dots. We need them!

The vintage inspired bags of a new Danish brand JENS STORM KØVENHAVN . 5 colors to choose from and we love all and each of them.

And last but not least, our FAVORITE BRANDS of CIFF AW16/17:

Christina Rohde with a collection full of color and style. Embroideries and flower prints. Reds, mustard yellow and burgundies that will transform every dull morning into a new adventure.

BONHEUR DU JOUR, was for sure one if my delights of the day. Their clothes have a Parisian chic mixed with ethnical influences: tiny Japanese kimonos and origami garments or Indian fringes and patterns. Lots of  sparkles, beautiful embroideries, pompoms, padding, tulles and fringes.

I completely fall in love with their flower embroidery cardigans. Would they have it in grown-up size?

kiSSe was the first brand that draw my attention in the fair. It is so refreshing to see how kids drawings can be taken to a next level, giving them 3 dimensions with wool, sequins and lots of imagination. This Spanish brand with Danish roots will be soon one of the referents in the Kid’s wearing business.

We will come back soon to talk about some of these new brands. Thanks CIFF Copenhagen to bring us the future. It is looking quite amazing!
