KIDS MUSEUM OF GLASS, a paradise for kids (and parents!)
If you are planning a visit to Shanghai, do not miss the Kids Museum of Glass. The place was designed to teach children the basics of glass in a playful and entertaining way.
It is considered the first design museum turned to children between 4 and 10 years old. The museum’s mascot, Bobo and Lili, guide the children by their age, leading them to different environments and activities that there exists.
The exhibition is built as a ‘glass city’, divided into themed places such as: “The Beach”, “The Circus” e “The Factory”. The experience of the museum is based on intuition and invites children to explore all the themes related to glass in an independent way.
All the museum was designed to provide educational experiences with multimedia facilities and creative environments which children can play and interact. One of the lessons teaches how lightning can create glass, like a glass prism works in addition to all the properties of this material and its history.
There are also two coffee shops and a souvenir shop as well as a separate party place that people can rent for school groups and birthday parties.
Sustainability and well-being were carefully considered as factors in the design process by Coordination Asia, architects of this project. The colorful museum space is a reused building, that has special air filters to guarantee clean and healthy air during playtime. All materials within the space are chosen with a sustainable outlook, to ensure a better tomorrow for the young visitors that engage with the space.
A playground, an art space, a second classroom and a place for events: the Kids Museum of Glass is a multifunctional and exciting experience for the whole family.
