Our @INSTAGRAMHOME of this month is like a dream made come true. A magic place for children to play, a relaxing home for adults to enjoy.
In 2009 they bought a house from the 30’s, in so bad conditions that nobody wanted to buy. Since then, they have been renovating it with a “open-mouth” type of result.
The house is full of details and vignettes, so full of inspiration that we are sure you are going to love it.
Let’s start with the kitchen, for me the center and soul of a house. We spend so much time in ours, that I always think that it has to be cozy, easy to tidy and very welcoming. What do you think about this?
I am completely in love with the tiles of the floor ,that they found through internet and cleaned one by one before they were able to place them in the right location. (509 tiles to clean, this is a lot of love put in a kitchen!)
I really like before and after articles and you have to see this one. Celine published it in her blog. Pay a visit, it deserves it!
In their dining room ,I love how they have recovered the old fireplace and the huge wooden doors. It gives a very special twist to the room. You can see its renovation in this post.
But if I have to select a favourite part of this amazing home, I definitively choose the bedrooms.
Their bedroom is simple, but so relaxing that you would like to lay down there. It is located in the attic of the house and it is somehow new, as they have to wait for their roof to be fixed before thinking on doing anything in that part of the house. This only happened last Summer, 6 years after moving to the house and as always, the before and after is so amazing that you have to see it for yourself.
But if you like this room, you have to see the children’s bedrooms.
Paul’s bedroom is painted in blue with an unfinished technique that reminds me to the sea. I really like his desk with the yellow legs and the old box full of books, but what I like the most is the swing in the room. It is a Lillalunga swing, made in Finland and she talks about it here.
I love it so much, that I am considering one for our play room.
Anna’s room is pink and it is so perfect and beautiful that it seems to come from an old children’s book.
Everything in it is delicate: the dresses, the doll’s house, the vintage baby pram, the toys in the mantel piece.
There is a detail that Celine repeats in different rooms of the house and I find very special. She hangs one single piece of wallpaper in one of the walls, always coordinated with the color selected for the room. As she does not paint the whole room, but only certain parts, the wallpaper and the paint gives the room a completely different look.
It is perfect for people like me, that likes colourful wallpapers but does not feel completely convinced to live with the same one for a long time. What do you think? Do you like the idea?
Her way to see life gives me always a boost of positivity and good vibes and today I want to share it with you.
