One week ago I read this on IG: “Right now, more than 98 million adolescent girls around the world are not in school.” I was shocked!. 98 million adolescent girls! OMG, it can’t be true!

One tend to believe that everyone around us enjoys a similar life. We do not realise how privileged we are for having access to something as basic as school and education.

Obama Foundation just launched GLOBAL GIRLS ALLIANCE, a program that seeks  to empower adolescent girls around the world through education.

I think that this is the type of projects that should be spread around, that everyone should give them a voice.

The future of our world is only as bright as our KIDS.

The video that promote the initiative  shows a group of girls singing Aretha Franklin’s “Think” and I find it amazingly powerful!

It is proven that when girls can go to school, the poverty goes down, GDPs go up, families become stronger, babies are born healthier “and the world gets better.”

Just press PLAY!

The Global Girls Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, seeks to empower adolescent girls around the world through education, allowing them to achieve their full potential and transform their families, communities, and countries.

The Alliance engages people around the world to take action to help adolescent girls and the grassroots leaders working to educate them.

The idea that not every girl on the planet have the same kind of opportunities as I’ve had, and that my daughters are having is something difficult to asume.

Education shall be a right that all of us deserve, education is the best way to pursue our dreams.

I know that you could be thinking that many of the reasons that keep girls out of school can be applied also to boys: families can’t afford school fees, the nearest school is hours away or going to school can be dangerous on conflict zones.

True, but on top of that, in many parts of the world, when girls hit the adolescence they are expected to get married or to assume full-time responsibilities at home.

The Obama Foundation’s Global Girls Alliance program is teaming up with GoFundMe to encourage people around the world to take action in support of girls education. Do you want to help ?

Last but not least, another good reason to support this cause is that my admired Nuria Pérez from SPARKS & ROCKETS takes part in this project. Nuria, please count on us!
